The energy beyond our eyes speaks in metaphors, symbols, synchronicities, and dreams, for only a few can bear the naked truth. The wisdom that produces all art requires a complete surrendering, and allowance of the flow of time only reflected in the absurd nature of dreams. Revealing a truth we may not be ready to face dreams allow us to peer into everything we avoid. As people become more desperate spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and financially people escape from reality avoiding the inner work. Anais Nin On Faith shows the importance of maintaining a belief that life can change.
Our pain mixed with the world’s pain clings to our body, freezing our potential, damaging our arteries, and causing tears to streak down our face. Unconsciously, through the habits of our lives, the world’s pain becomes our pain, and finds it way into every aspect of our lives. One learns with much pain, heartache, and effort that in order to survive we must spiritually connect every part of our lives. We must notice, appreciate, and value the beauty around us as we create from the pain, create from the hurt, create from the confusion, and learn to live while creating through these experiences. Anais Nin understood the necessity to create, and use every aspect of our experience in creating–Anais Nin On Faith says:
Don’t wait for it,” I said. “Create a world, your world. Alone. Stand alone. Create. And then the love will come to you, then it comes to you. It was only when I wrote my first book that the world I wanted to live in opened to me. The artist is the only one who knows that the world is a subjective creation, that there is a choice to be made, a selection of elements. It is a materialization, an incarnation of his inner world. Then he hopes to attract others into it. He hopes to impose his particular vision and share it with others. And when the second stage is not reached, the brave artist continues nevertheless.
The few moments of communion with the world are worth the pain, for it is a world for others, an inheritance for others, a gift to others, in the end. When you make a world tolerable for yourself, you make a world tolerable for others. I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn’t impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.

We must create our lives, and use the wisdom from these experiences to recognize the messages happening around us in order to create our lives. When we watch our dreams we are tuning into another world that contains our most intimate desires, inhibitions, and thoughts. We must follow our living and sleep dreams in order to discover the next step on the path, for they are the blueprint to our success–Anais Nin On Faith says:
I really believe that if I were not a writer, not a creator, not an experimenter, I might have been a very faithful wife. I think highly of faithfulness. But my temperament belongs to the writer, not to the woman. Such a separation may seem childish, but it is possible …faithfulness is one of the perfections. It seems stupid and unintelligent to me now because I have bigger plans in mind. Perfection is static, and I am in full progress. The faithful wife is only one phase, one moment, one metamorphosis, one condition.
I came here to seek my strength, and I find it. I’m fighting. This morning I saw young, tall, thick silhouettes of skiers, with heavy boots, and their slow, conquering walk was like a gust of power. Defeat is only a phase for me. I must conquer, live. You must not fear, hold back, count or be a miser with your thoughts and feelings. It is also true that creation comes from an overflow, so you have to learn to intake, to imbibe, to nourish yourself and not be afraid of fullness. The fullness is like a tidal wave which then carries you, sweeps you into experience and into writing.

Anaïs Nin speaks with warmth and urgency on those themes which have always been closest to her: relationships, creativity, the struggle for wholeness, the unveiling of woman, the artist as magician, women reconstructing the world, moving from the dream outward, and experiencing our lives to the fullest possible extent.
