Everyone who pursues something they assert to be greater than themselves inevitably encounters feelings of hatred, despair, and sadness stemming from their present circumstances. Whether trapped in a detested job or occupying a role that appears to fall short of our self-perceived identity, we’ve all grappled with the disorientation of our situation. However, through arduous lessons, I’ve come to realize that embracing our current predicament stands as the most revolutionary stride one can take. Embracing our present status, unearthing our objectives, and steadfastly recalling those objectives constitute the essence of revolution. You must Remember Your Mission.

I encountered a young boy who struggled with reading and ended up being placed in Special Education classes. With his big eyes and a deep, sorrowful frown, he looked up at me and expressed, “I don’t want to be in special education classes. I’m afraid of being mocked.” I gazed at him, fighting back my own tears. I reassured him, “This situation is temporary; it’s a stepping stone towards our ultimate goal. It doesn’t define your speed or your worth; it’s simply a path to help us reach where we want to be.”
As I shared these words, my emotions overwhelmed me, and tears flowed freely. Being trapped in a situation that brings immense pain, self-loathing, and a sense of inadequacy often leads us down a dark path. We might even contemplate ending it all, and push away the love that surrounds us. It’s easy to lose sight of our aspirations and become consumed by resentment towards our circumstances. However, we must remind ourselves that our current position is fleeting, and our true purpose emanates from within.
While conversing with this young man, a profound realization struck me. We were more similar than I could have imagined, sharing a bond rooted in common experiences. In that moment, we relied on each other for strength and understanding.
Cease your running and embrace the present moment. Though challenges may abound and disappointment may loom, within the recognition of our transient circumstances lies a liberating truth. Just as night inevitably gives way to day, so too shall the light emerge to illuminate our path toward freedom. Just as leaves fall to signal a transition, we need to be vigilant for the signs of our own transition. However, it’s crucial that we remain prepared.
